What is a credit?
A credit is how WorkLLM measures the AI work you use. We convert the model provider’s token cost into credits, along with storage, infrastructure and platform costs, so what you spend reflects what the work costs to run. A credit isn’t a token, a question or a message, and it isn’t the same as an OpenAI or Anthropic credit.
How many questions can I ask with my credits?
There’s no single number, because it depends on the model, the length of the answer and the conversation, and whether documents or memory are involved. For a roughly one-page answer, a lighter model typically uses about 1-5 credits, a mid-tier model about 5-20, and a higher-end model about 15-35. Compare those ranges with your plan’s monthly credits.
What does a typical task cost?
A simple task, like preparing a report and sending it to a client, usually costs about 5 to 10 credits with a light model and maybe 10 to 20 credits with a high-end model. A more complex task, like researching a topic across several sources and drafting a full client proposal, usually costs about 10 to 30 with a cheaper model and 30 to 50 credits with a high-end model. The exact cost depends on the model you pick and how much content is involved, length of the input question, documents involved and memory and you can see the credits used after every task.
Where can I see credit usage?
You can check your credit usage in two ways:
- Quick view: Your current workspace credit usage is shown at the top of the screen, so you can see it without leaving your workspace.
- Detailed view: Click your profile icon in the bottom-left corner, then select Credit Usage report to see your usage, remaining credit and usage over time in more detail, including credits used by models, model providers, tasks, agent usage, etc.
How can I make my credits go further?
Leave the model on Recommended, and we will pick the best one for each task based on cost and quality. Use a lower reasoning level for simple tasks, and save documents you use often to your project or folder memory so we don’t index them all the time from fresh. After each answer, check the credits used to learn what different tasks cost.
Do unused credits roll over, and which are used first?
Yes. Monthly credits roll over for one more month and expire after that, so each batch is valid for 60 days. Rolled-over credits are used first, then monthly credits, then purchased credits.
What if I need more credits than my plan includes?
You can buy additional credits at 1 cent each, from USD 10 for 1,000 up to USD 1,000 for 100,000. Purchased credits don’t expire while your monthly plan is active, and they’re used after your rolled-over and monthly credits. If you regularly need more, a higher Adoption plan gives better value: about 1.00 cent per credit on T1 down to about 0.71 cent on T5.
What happens when I run out of credits?
When a workspace has used all its available credits, it can’t keep using the platform until more are available. You can buy additional credits or upgrade your plan. The credit meter at the top right shows your workspace credits, so you can see how much is left.
Can my team share credits?
Yes. Credits are shared across the workspace, so everyone in the workspace uses the same credit pool.
Can I set a credit limit for individual team members?
Yes. A Workspace Admin can set a credit limit for an individual user from Workspace Settings → Members.
If I bring my own API key (BYOK), do I still use credits?
BYOK Models you bring on your own, don’t use WorkLLM credits for the model itself. Memory, web search and embeddings can still use credits. There’s no automatic switching between your key and your credits, so the model you pick decides which one pays.
